SUSTAINABILITY
For us, sustainability is a real passion. Beauty is in the DNA of our cosmetics company and we want to preserve the beauty of the earth. Following Jane Goodall's mindset, "What you do, makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make," we embrace sustainability holistically and authentically.
We want to actively participate in the sustainable change and leave behind a livable planet for both ourselves and future generations, even though it's a big challenge for us as a small to medium-sized company. That's why we're taking it step by step, leveraging both big and small actions to minimize our company's impact on the environment. Our values of "transparency, responsibility, and innovation" guide us along the way.
SUSTAINABILITY VISION
We see the beauty in every person. Beauty requires a livable planet. That's why we take responsibility - boldly shaping a sustainable, colorful future.
SUSTAINABILITY MISSION
Everything we do starts with sustainability. For us, this means not only renunciation, but above all enrichment. Hands-on for our future viability and future generations.
- 100% use of FSC paper in the folding cartons
- Corporate citizenship: We are proud to employ 263 local homeworkers.
- Green electricity & solar panels: Since 2022, we have been using green electricity on our company premises, and since 2008 we have been feeding specially captured energy into the grid via our solar panels on the roof.
- E-charging stations (17 charging points in total)
- Emissions: In 2023, we reduced our CO2 emissions by over 720 tons compared to the previous year.
SUSTAINABILITY REPORT
As part of the Artdeco Cosmetic Group, we publish a joint Sustainability Report. This report informs you about our recent activities and the milestones we have already achieved, as well as our plans for the future. For us, sustainability is an ongoing journey that will never end, but every day, we strive to align ourselves a bit more sustainably. We look forward to continuing this journey with you!
UN GLOBAL COMPACT PROGRESS REPORT
The ARTDECO Cosmetic Group has voluntarily committed to the United Nations Global Compact and annually reports on progress in the areas of human rights, labor standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption efforts. The reports can be viewed publicly on our profile.
Optimization of our product packaging
The products are the centrepiece of our company. That is why we focus in particular on optimising our packaging to make it more sustainable. Our priorities include enhancing the recyclability of our packaging, increasing the use of recycled materials, promoting circular economy practices, and minimizing resource usage. All our white tubes (excluding pumps) for skincare products have a recyclability rate of over 90%.
You can learn more about the proper disposal of our skincare products here.
Quality standards
The quality of our ingredients has always been of paramount importance to us. We have over 100 vegan products in our range. In addition, at least 80% of our products are made in Germany and our product development team is constantly searching for high quality and effective ingredients.
We are committed to avoiding controversial ingredients that have a negative impact on the environment and health. To achieve this, we combine natural plant extracts with highly effective ingredients.
Ingredients and packaging materials: Example Sensitive Pro
We've placed special emphasis on our Sensitive Pro product line, which we label as "Clean Beauty" due to its development under stricter standards that go beyond legal requirements. All cosmetic products in this line are free from silicones, sulfates, mineral oils, parabens, PEGs, microplastics, aluminum, chemical filters, palm oil, and nanoparticles.
In addition to the climate neutrality of our folding cartons, we've introduced recycled plastic packaging for the first time in the Sensitive Pro line, thereby avoiding the use of new plastic. For packaging where this isn't yet possible, we're actively seeking more sustainable alternatives. We also consistently eliminate packaging elements that are unnecessary from a brand and product perspective, such as leaflets. For MEN products and the ALOE VERA series, we've eliminated all folding cartons. Additionally, we exclusively use 100% FSC-certified cardboard for decorative and skincare products.
BUY A REFILL - SUPPORT THE PLANET
We have converted our 50 ml cream jars to an innovative refill system! The new refill jar can hold all 12 care creams in our range as refills.
By reusing the jar, 46% less cardboard and 80% less plastic is used when you buy a refill for the first time.

Refill Range
Thanks to the refillable click system, our bestseller Camouflage can be put together as desired in our beauty boxes. The boxes are durable and can be individually filled and refilled again and again. This saves packaging material and allows for a box full of favorite colors!
Social and environmental commitment
Plan International Deutschland e.V.
MALU WILZ Beauté supports the children's charity Plan International Deutschland e.V., as improving gender equality for girls is particularly close to our hearts. Through an annual Christmas donation since 2011, we have been supporting various projects by Plan International with the aim of giving children in developing countries the opportunity for self-determination and a better future.
Our Advent calendar not only conjures up radiant skin every year, but also supports a project of the children's charity Plan International with €1.00 for each Advent calendar sold. In 2024, our donation, which we round up to €7,000, will go to a project in Malawi that focuses on equal rights for girls and young women.
Our partner - Plan international Deutschland e.V.
Plan is a non-religious and non-denominational aid organization that advocates worldwide for the opportunities and rights of children. For almost 80 years, Plan has been working to ensure that girls and boys can lead lives free from poverty, violence, and injustice. Plan actively involves both girls and boys in shaping the future – they are given a voice and become active participants in shaping their living environment. The sustainable improvement of living conditions in over 70 countries is Plan's top priority.

Local collaboration
> Tafel München
St. Nicholas campaign: Every year, we donate numerous products to the Tafel München. This donation is distributed to all 28 distribution points of the Tafel München. On-site, small Nikolaus packages are assembled and distributed.
Corporate Volunteering: Once a year, our employees voluntarily support the Tafel München and are granted time off from their duties for this purpose.
> Gong 96.3 Sleeping bag sponsorships in Munich
At the end of 2023, we were deeply moved by the "Sleeping Bag Patrons" initiative by Gong 96.3 and the Munich charity organization "Aktion Brücke." Under the motto "Together, give warmth," Munich residents were called upon to come together to provide Sheltersuits for all homeless people in the city: a winter jacket that can be converted into a sleeping bag. Due to its innovative technology, a Sheltersuit costs €300. The big goal was to gather 550 Sheltersuits. The ARTDECO cosmetic Group donated €15,000 from the sustainability budget – thus providing 50 Sheltersuits.
> Production of the Christmas calendars in the Schönbrunn workshop for the disabled
The Franziskuswerk Schönbrunn is a facility for people with disabilities. Adults with intellectual disabilities find individual living communities, suitable workplaces, and diverse leisure activities here. The MALU WILZ Advent calendar is produced in the workshop of the Franziskuswerk Schönbrunn. The workshop provides people who cannot or are not yet able to work in the general labor market due to their nature or severity of disability with as tailored work as possible. This promotes personal development and strengthens performance capabilities.
Environmental projects
> Our forest in Ausgburg
Our partner DEUTIM helps us make a forest area in Augsburg "fit for the future" and preserve the local forest for future generations in the long term. We achieve this by reforesting clear-cut areas and converting monocultures into climate-resilient mixed forests. You can learn more about our commitment here.
> One Earth - One Ocean
In 2021, we donated €1 for every product sold from our Thalasso skincare line to the organization One Earth One Ocean for the project "Retrieving Ghost Nets in the Baltic Sea." The environmental organization based in Munich aims to rid waters worldwide of plastic waste, as well as oil and pollutants. Many of our partners implemented the campaign in their institutes and also made their own contributions. Through our Thalasso campaign, we were able to support the project with €5,000.
